We are looking to hire a Director of Global Logistics to develop the logistics department strategy through planning, procuring, and delivering the world-class equipment needed to provide a seamless guest experience and support our global guides and trip design team.

The Director of Global Logistics must possess a wide variety of skills including purchasing, supply chain, data analysis, forecasting, budgeting, managing international logistic operations and scheduling. This role is responsible for creating, communicating, and implementing a global logistics strategy that will meet the needs of internal and external customers. POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Leadership
  • Develops and implements global logistics strategies to achieve service expectations while streamlining processes, reducing costs, and improving overall operational efficiency.
  • Contribute operations information and recommendations to company’s strategic plans and reviews.
  • Prepare and complete action plans (OKR’s); implement production, productivity, quality, and guest-service standards; resolve problems; identify trends.
  • Create multi-year operations schedule for equipment purchase, lease, and maintenance in support of departmental budget.
  • Budgeting: Forecast, plan, and manage capital budget annually and asset inventory. Analyze data and generate reports on key logistics metrics.
  • Teamwork: Collaborates with other departments to foster cross-departmental relationships to help meet unified team goals.
  • Review and analyze internal team and guest feedback data to implement changes and improve the guest or team experience.
  • Be a Learn-It-All; develop job knowledge and leadership skills by using available resources, reading professional materials, participating in learning opportunities, and providing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to your team to empower their career growth.
Logistics Operations
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures and systems in warehouse facilities, remote field locations and on trips.
  • Enhance, implement, and maintain the bike and inventory management systems to ensure we are supporting guides in the field, providing a great guest experience, utilizing inventory effectively, purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data, and reducing unnecessary expenses.
  • Analyze trip booking data trends to forecast efficient and cost-effective distribution of bikes and equipment.
  • Facility management of two warehouses including warehouse expansion plan, and in-field warehousing.
  • Oversee for all aspects of vehicle and equipment compliance, leasing, servicing, and replacement.
  • Oversee bike fleet purchasing and sale.
  • Design standard operating procedures for field teams to execute in destination facilities and on trip.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with international vendors and suppliers.
  • Companywide communication to ensure timely resolutions, quality control, and process feedback.
  • Coordinate cross departmentally to create, maintain and streamline master schedule of trips and equipment.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and advancements, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
Team Management
  • Leads and manages 3-4 direct reports, including hiring, training and mentoring staff to ensure high performance and job satisfaction.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the warehouse operations and logistics functions, leveraging data analytics and best practices to identify areas for optimization and innovation. Implement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Create a Great Place to Work and foster the Trek Travel culture.
  • Lead a highly efficient and motivated global logistics team by defining staffing needs, training, coaching, and deeply understand operational needs.
  • Hire, build, manage, and develop a team of high-contributing members through weekly check-ins, goal setting, and project management.
  • Mentoring team members to understand and deliver their full potential.
  • Contribute to a fun, inclusive, safe, and healthy work environment.
WHAT ELSE WE’D LIKE TO SEE FROM YOU:
  • The ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects and navigate complex challenges within tight time constraints.
  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing operations, logistics, or an equivalent role.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing one or more direct reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Power BI and Power Apps and project management tools
  • Strong project management skills
  • Confidence in your problem-solving and adaptability skills, and the ability to exercise great judgement with decision-making in a timely manner.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership and mentorship skills and the ability to delegate tasks to others, as necessary with the ability to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Expert attention to detail, efficiency and works with a sense of urgency.
  • Takes initiative to continuously improve processes and is solution oriented.

This is a full-time exempt position that will require approximately 35% travel and is eligible for Trek Travel’s competitive benefits package. This position is based in Madison, Wisconsin, is a member our Leadership Team and reports to the President of Trek Travel. Interest in the active travel industry is beneficial, but not necessary.
